This mural job was really exciting since the Aquarium is world famous for the quality of it’s exhibits. A special team of sculptors were flown in and spent about three weeks creating the boulders. Every stage is carefully planned, so I came in right after them, and spent a few nights spraying a sunset gradation all around the room.
Once that was done, it was time to add the cacti and a few plants to the mural. Specialists came in and added sand and living plants to the display. A large tortoise will live here too!
I spent the most time getting this sunset on the ocean to look right. I painted boulders behind the sculpted ones to extend the eye into the distance.
